Day Trader

A person who buys and sells the same security in the span of only one day, trying to profit from sharp price moves. Day traders usually try to have all positions closed before the market close of the trading day.

There are two types of day trading: An institutional day trader is a speculator who works for a financial institution and a retail day trader is a speculator who works for himself, or in partnership with a few other traders.
